I feel like I just wrote this same email a few months ago …but here we are again. The 2021 Burlington Capital International Omaha has been canceled.

We are sorry – we did our best. What led us to this decision...

  • We believe that Ticketmaster COVID-19 policies requiring evidence of vaccination or a negative test would make it challenging for us to see significant ticket sales in our traditional indoor location.

  • We tried to utilize an alternative outdoor venue in downtown Omaha that would be as safe as we could make it for athletes, horses, and spectators. However, the cost of construction just became too great.

  • We simply could not move forward hosting a 2021 event that appeared to be on very unsteady financial footing while we have significant obligations to meet, this year and next, in order to host the FEI World Cup™ Finals Omaha 2023.

We do hope to host some smaller outdoor events this summer and will be looking for opportunities to welcome area children back to an educational event in the fall. The Omaha Equestrian Foundation will be using this time to plan the FEI World Cup™ Finals Omaha 2023. We have high standards to maintain from the 2017 event and we look forward to the challenge.

We have signed a contract with CHI Health Center – Omaha for 2022 and look forward to welcoming you back to the Burlington Capital International Omaha May 5-9 for what we hope will become an annual Mother’s Day weekend event for you and your families.

These events would not be possible without our volunteers and athletes, and we will miss seeing them in 2021. We genuinely appreciate the support we receive from individuals, as well as private and public partners in the Omaha area, Douglas County, and the State of Nebraska. We look forward to bringing you exciting events in 2022 & 2023.

CEO – Omaha Equestrian Foundation
