Burnett Farm to Host Olympian Chris Kappler for Weekend Clinic

Lebanon, IN – May 21, 2020 -  Trainer and grand prix rider Michael Burnett will host Olympic Medalist Chris Kappler for a riding clinic at Burnett Farm July 10 – 12, 2020. Burnett is pleased to offer this opportunity at his farm in Lebanon, Indiana, as he is an advocate for education to improve riding techniques for riders of all levels. 

Kappler will teach groups starting at .80m and up to 1.30m in height during the three-day clinic.  Kappler’s training methods include a strong focus on proper flatwork for both horses and riders and meticulous attention to detail.

Kappler and Royal Kaliber won team gold for the United States and an individual silver medal at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece in 2004. At the Pan American Games in 2003, Kappler won the team gold and individual silver medal, again with Royal Kaliber, and was named Equestrian of the Year by the United States Equestrian Federation. Kappler is the winner of more than 100 grand prixs including three American Invitational wins, three American Gold Cup wins, and the American Grand Prix (AGA) Championship. He was named Midwest Rider of the Year in 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1991. He received the Lionel Guerrand-Hermes Trophy, awarded to the young rider who “exemplifies outstanding sportsmanship and horsemanship” in 1991.

About Burnett Farm

Michael Burnett has an impressive resume in the jumper ring including a second place finish in the $25,000 WEC Grand Prix two weeks in a row this winter with Chagrand and earned the championship in the 1.30m jumpers. The pair competed in the FEI CSI2* $50,000 Rushy Marsh 1.45m Grand Prix during WEF week 5 and finished 9th out of 44 in the competitive division. 

Chagrand and Burnett won the $25,000 Brownland Grand Prix last June and placed third in the $50,000 Boehringer Ingelheim Grand Prix at Showplace Spring and third in the $30,000 Ingram Family Welcome Stake at Great Lakes Equestrian Festival II among other top ten placings in the grand prix rings. Burnett will continue to show him in the FEI classes once competition resumes.

Burnett is growing his farm in Lebanon, Indiana and is accepting show clients, sale horses

and horses in training. Burnett’s teaching philosophy is based on the classical style of American riding and he is extremely passionate about his sport and is dedicated to his clients. He trains horses and riders of all ages and experience levels.
